Wishing you well

There's another card on tap for today, and this one was for my grandmother who recently had knee replacement surgery.  She's one tough cookie, but even still, it always feels good to know that someone (in this case, A LOT of someones) is wishing you a speedy recovery!  My recent obsession is the Cuttlebug, and pair that with my last obsession, BUTTONS, and you've got yourself a cute card!  Here it is:

I love the embossing folders you can get for the Cuttlebug, there's something for everyone!

Here's a close-up of the card, with the focus being this cute "feel better" stamp I found while digging through the DOLLAR bins at Michael's.  I always find at least one stamp on every trip, and for a buck, you can't beat it.  Just a little tip though, check the actual stamp to make sure it's not crooked, that's a real pain to get lined up on your project!

I hope you enjoyed today's card.  My next post will have your mouth watering, so check back soon!  Happy Crafting!

Every moment is worthy of a card

Whether you are giving thanks or wishing someone a happy birthday, there is always a way to turn that into a card!  Below I will show you a few of my latest card creations, and I must say, I'm getting craftier with each one I do...practice makes perfect, well, at least better!

First up, a thank you card for a sweet baby gift I received.  I wanted to try out using some ribbon, and I was so happy with how it turned out...UNTIL, my white ink I used on my stamp smeared all over the place.  Luckily I was able to peel off the small square and replace it using black ink on white paper instead.

Next up is a couple of birthday cards I made for my sister and my father.  I recently purchased a Cuttlebug Machine, and I haven't really been able to use it, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to give it a go.  Here they are, and I have to say, on behalf of my family, they loved them ;)

This card was made using my Cuttlebug and my new iRock tool.  I pulled the paper from an old stack I had, along with some coordinating ribbon and viola, card created!  Super easy, but I loved the look.  The only thing I would have changed would be to have used more 3D dots.  I only used 2, and the embossed paper sagged in the spots without the dots.

The next card I made was for my Dad.  I used my Cuttlebug again to emboss a strip down the side, stamped the center, colored it in with some colored pencils and dazzled it up a bit with my iRock tool.  Here's the end result!

Same thing happened with this card, it sagged in the middle where no dots were applied...live and learn I guess.

This just goes to show you that you don't need a lot of fancy stuff on a card to have it still look nice!  I think what my family enjoys most is that I took the time to give them something from the heart...sagging centers and all ;)

I've still got some cards to show you, so keep checking back.  The next one coming is a get well card I made using a cute new stamp found in the DOLLAR bins at Michael's!  Happy Crafting!

Now, how to win...All you have to do is become a follower of my blog (if your'e not already), then head on over to My Memories, take a look around, come back here and comment on what you loved most on their site.  It's that easy.  I will run this contest for 1 week, so check back next Wednesday to see if you're the lucky Scrapper!

Here's a little taste of what I was able to create in just a few minutes with their software...imagine what you could do!!!

Personalized Autograph Books

My cousin's little girl turned 2 a few months ago, and because I am such a scatter-brain, I didn't get her gift off until just recently.  I wanted to make a Disney Autograph Book to go with the little outfit we got her, so when she makes her first trip to Disneyland, she'd have something all her own for the characters to sign.  I've made several of these books, and they're just so much fun I have to keep re-posting them.

The main book was cut at 5" from the Mickey & Friends cart, the star was also cut from M&F's at 3".  Circle and initial were cut from the Plantin cart at 3".

Slowly but surely

So after a couple of months off, I've finally been able to start crafting again.  Finding the time for a crafty creation is a little more challenging now that I've got two little ones to care for, but I'm happy to report, it's still possible!!!  While I haven't been able to knock out any 2-page layouts YET, I have managed to make a few cards, that I must say, are pretty darn cute!

The first is a birthday card for my brother-in-law, Jeremy, or as my son calls him, "Uncle Mary!"  He just celebrated his 28th birthday last weekend, and this is the doozie of a "man card" I came up with:

The tank was cut 5" from the Boys Will Be Boys Cart, and mounted on brown card stock.  The phrases all came from the Pink by Design "Just 4 Men" stamp set I won in a blog contest...they are GREAT stamps, and so much fun to play around with!

Next up is a Get Well card I made for my dad who just had minor toe surgery.  My dad loves nature, and is really a kid at heart, so it was easy choosing the cart I'd create his card from...Create a Critter.  I chose the squirrel, although some people thought it was a skunk because of my color choices.  You can be the judge ;)

The squirrel was cut at 5" from the Create a Critter cart, and mounted on brown card stock.  The stamp was also from the Pink by Design "Just 4 Men" set.

Last, but surely not least, was an anniversary card to my sister, and her husband for their 6th wedding anniversary.  For my birthday I received the "Tie the Knot" cart, and figured this was the best opportunity to give it a go.  I really loved the "love birds" so I chose colors that would not only compliment each other, but also represent the "man & woman" birds well.

The birds were each cut at 3", and mounted on grey card stock.  I thought that the front looked best with no title on it, just simply understated with LOVE!

Thanks for taking the time to read my latest post...I'm really looking forward to a lot more in the near future!

Since I've been gone...

Hey Scrappers!!!

I've been missing from the Scrapping Blog World for a couple of months now, but I promise, I have a really good reason ;)

I gave birth to my second son on June 2nd, and he's been keeping me pretty busy.  Along with my almost 3 year old, I haven't had the time to craft.  I'm hoping that I'll get into a routine here soon and can pick it back up.  I sure have missed seeing what all of my fellow scrappers are up to lately, hope you're all doing well.

Here's a picture of my two little loves!  Happy scrapping :D

"Happy" Birthday Marley

We recently celebrated my niece Marley's 1st Birthday.  It was a Disney Princess theme, but I wanted something a little different for her card.  I went with "Happy" from Snow White, and it turned out just perfectly...it totally describes my niece too!!!

Enjoy!

Happy was cut at 5" from the Disney Happily Ever After Cart

A little thanks goes a long way

It's so easy to say thank you when someone does something thoughtful, or goes out of their way to help you, and it means SO much to that person on the receiving end of the "THANKS!"

Yesterday I received a baby gift from our General Contractor, and it was so unexpected, and so genuinely thoughtful.  I wanted to make sure that I got her a thank you card before I left on maternity leave.  So, this morning, I woke up just an extra 15 minutes early and fired up the Cricut.  Since her gifts were all jungle themed (and without knowing it she matched the nursery), I wanted to giver her a jungle themed Thank You card.

Some Bunny Loves You

I know Easter has come and gone, but I forgot to post the cards I made up for the adults in our life.  I found the stamp in a bargain bin at JoAnn's Fabrics...I'm tellin' ya, keep your eye out, you'll never know what treasure you'll find in a $1 bin ;)  I used the Create A Critter cart (AGAIN) to make up the cute little bunny rabbits (2 1/2"), and included a personal photo of my son with the Easter Bunny.  Simple, yet thoughtful!

Enjoy!

From an army of bunnies...

Hoppy Easter Kiddos

What a great Easter we had yesterday!  Surrounded by our families, enjoying the company & great food that was prepared was so amazing!  We had 4 little ones hopping around the yard for eggs this year, and all so adorable in their own special way...these are the cards I made for each of the kids "treat bags" this year!

All four of the characters on the cards were cut at 3" from the Create A Critter cart (please don't mind the silly little phrases, LOL).

Let's Play

Man, four days without a Blog post...I've really been slacking!  Well, I've actually been working away on a couple of really big projects, but I can't post about them because they are gifts.  I've also been working on some Mother's Day projects (which aren't going so well), and I'm SO behind on my Easter cards this year...there's just not enough time in the evening after I put my son to bed to get it all done!

Anyway...I thought I'd dig something out of the archives to share with you all today!  I made this invitation for my sons 2nd Birthday Party this past October.  I enlisted my mom to help me assemble the 20 invites, and boy was I glad I did, she had a great idea to use "googly eyes" instead of paper, turned out so cute.  While the character wasn't that intricate, it does help to have someone assembling while you're cutting with the Cricut.  It's good social time too ;)

Here he is...the roughest, toughest cowboy around, Sheriff Woody!!!

Sisters are a girls best friends!

Tonight I'll be celebrating my middle sisters "Dirty Thirty!"  I wanted to make her a card that was fun...but not dirty ;)  Since I've had so much fun using the Create A Critter cart lately, I stuck with that, and came up with this little number.  I'm hoping this one makes the fridge, LOL!!!

Front - Hippo was cut at 3", pond at 1 1/2", grass at 2", phrase at 1 1/2"
Inside - Phrase at 2 1/2" and Tulip at 3"

It's a Zoo Out There

I had the pleasure of making a new friend at a baby shower recently, and she's expecting her first little bundle of joy in a few months. She knows she's having a boy (yeah for boys), and wanted me to make her a name book to showcase some special photos of her son-to-be!

The nursery theme is monkey's, and the colors are espresso, sage & yellow...so awesome! I wanted the book to have a little variety, so I decided on a zoo theme (and Mom agreed) instead of doing 6 monkey layouts, and here's what the Mommy-to-be received!!!

Personalize It

I've previously posted the Autograph Book I made for my son to collect character signatures, but I put a little personal twist on the book this past weekend.  We were celebrating my niece & nephews birthdays and thought that since they'd be heading to Disneyland later this year they should have an autograph book no one else in the park could possibly have!

Here they are:

Head on over to Crafting with Natasha, follow her Blog for a chance to win some awesome Blog Candy and to see her wonderful creations!

Grandparents x's Three

I grew up with the most amazing grandparents, so I really value the relationship between a grandchild and his/her grandparents.  My son is lucky enough to have 3 sets who love him very much!

Two Grandmas recently celebrated birthdays, and Mother's Day is just around the corner..so it was my goal to create something for each of them that they could treasure forever, and what Grandma doesn't love to show off her grandchildren???

No two, or three, Grandmas are exactly the same, so each of their books are a little different.
